Edinburgh restaurant apologises after waitress 'walked off in a huff' over dish

An Edinburgh restaurant has apologised after a customer was left furious at their service while out for a festive meal.

Taking to TripAdvisor to share their concerns, the diner had given a scathing one-star review after claiming they received 'terrible' service and food.

Arriving at the popular city centre Italian two weeks ago, the customer had said that despite a good atmosphere in the run up to Christmas, their experience was not up to scratch.

Initially upset that a bottle of wine they had ordered was more expensive than they had expected, the review then alleged that the waitress had left in a "huff" after a complaint was made over one of the meals.

Speaking about their dinner, the review said: "The atmosphere was great with Christmas parties, albeit very very busy. I stupidly ordered a bottle of Chardonnay without checking the prices; I did not expect to pay £40, for a £14 bottle of wine.

"The gluten free pasta was inedible as it wasn’t cooked right. I spoke to the waitress who said I should have said earlier when she asked- which was about a minute into eating - she then pulled a face and walked off in a huff. The calzone was also too dry. Would not visit again."

Responding to the claims, Amarone were quick to apologise for the incident, and said they were "sorry" for the experience.

A reply stated: "I’m sorry to hear about your disappointment with us, and I would like to personally assist you with making things right.

"Please get in touch via our email: customercare@thedrg.co.uk."
