Edinburgh residents see record breaking UFO sightings in capital sky during 2022

Unidentified Flying Objects have been in the news lately with the US Air Force scrambling to take down peculiar flying balloons in the skies over North America.

Of course one of those objects was identified as a Chinese spy balloon but three other unexplained objects of a smaller stature were later spotted and blown out of the skies due to national security concerns.

An official from the Pentagon refused to rule out aliens but those connected with the American government quickly stepped in to say that they did not believe the objects had come from outside of the remit of earth.

Nonetheless, UFOs have become a hot topic for many enthusiasts and normal citizens who have begun to believe that there could be life out there visiting our planet.

With that in mind, it is an incredible revelation that Scotland has seen an increase in UFO reports, from 43 in 2021 to 52 in 2022.

Data has been collated by UFO Identified, an organisation set up by Ufologist Ash Ellis, to gather findings to help create a clearer picture of what is going on in the skies above Scotland.

Edinburgh and the Lothians had a number of sightings with the capital having seven, West Lothian four and East Lothian one.

Tallying reports from MUFON (Mutual UFO Network), BUFORA (British UFO Network) and NUFORC (National UFO Reporting Centre), as well as official reports submitted to Police Scotland, Ash and his team were able to pull together a list of some incredible sightings.

These include a formation of objects above Murrayfield Stadium and a ball of light static above a row of trees in the city.

A list of some of the sightings are listed below:

Dec 26 - 9.36pm - Edinburgh - Strange bright light hovering in the sky silently and motionless for some minutes, no clue to where it came from

Nov 11- 3pm - Edinburgh - Three or four lots of objects in a circular formation above Murrayfield, only seen on photos not with naked eye
