Edinburgh residents have been evacuated following a fire that tore through a tenement building during the night.
Great Junction Street, Leith, is currently closed as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service continue to secure the area after seven pump appliances and one height appliance raced to the scene shortly before 3am on Tuesday morning, November 15.
Crews remain in attendance and Edinburgh police have issued a short statement via social media informing locals in the area to avoid the corner of Bonnington Road where it meets Great Junction Street.

They said: "Road Closure. Great Junction Street, Edinburgh, is currently closed between Leith Walk and Ferry Road due to an ongoing fire. Please avoid the area in the meantime."
Terrifying images shared on social media show huge flames coming from the roof of the building above a row of shops in the area as smoke can be seen rising above nearby buildings.
It is understood that some residents have been evacuated from their homes as a precaution, but it is unknown if there are any injuries as a result of the blaze at this time.
A spokeswoman for the SFRS commented: "We were alerted to a fire within a building on Bonnington Road, Edinburgh, around 2:47am on Tuesday, November 15. At the height of the fire, seven pump appliances, one height appliance and a command unit were mobilised.
"The fire is within a tenement building and a full evacuation is underway as the fire spread to the roof. Crews remain in attendance."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a fire at a property on Bonnington Road, Edinburgh, around 3am on Tuesday, 15 November, 2022.
“Emergency services attended and five people were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary as a precaution.
“A number of surrounding properties were evacuated.
“The fire is not believed to be suspicious however enquiries are ongoing into the cause.
“Bonnnington Road at Swanfield, Cables Wynd at Mill Lane and Great Junction Street between Henderson Street and Bangor Road are currently closed. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and plan ahead.”
