Edinburgh resident captures images of 'Borderland' film set by Waverley Station

An Edinburgh resident has captured images of the big-budget movie Borderland that has been filming in Edinburgh over the weekend.

The film is based on a true crime book ‘The Road to Balcombe Street’ which explores the story of an IRA unit placed in deep cover in London.

It is set in the 1970s and has been described as a thriller and ‘vengeance-fulled chase movie.’

Star Wars’ actor Felicity Jones is understood to be appearing in the film alongside a yet-to-be-named actor.

In the pictures an old school police vehicle can be seen alongside other vehicles from the 1970s.

The iconic red phone boxes that would have littered London’s streets during the 70s are also visible.

A number of set workers can also be spotted wearing high vis vests as they attempt to capture the footage they require for the film.

Edinburgh City Council warned residents yesterday that the filming would be taking place on Sunday 10 April on Calton Road in front of the Waverley Station back entrance.

It is understood that the entrance of the train station remained throughout.

They said that those in the vicinity should not panic or be alarmed if they hear a loud explosion or gun fire coming from the site as this is all part of filming.

They said: “Tomorrow (10 April) filming is taking place at the Calton Road entrance to Waverley Station. If you’re in the area you may hear sound of an explosion & gunfire. Don't be alarmed.

“The entrance remains open but to avoid any possible delays you may wish to use another entrance.”

Borderland is directed by Tom and Charlie Guard - who rose to fame with 2009 horror flick The Uninvited, and also stars Jack Reynor (Midsommar) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim).
