ScotRail have warned commuters to expect severe disruption and reduced services after members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union are set to carry out four days of strikes.
They announced that rail commuters will be impacted on October 29 as well as November 3, 5 and 7. The dispute over pay and working conditions continues to rage on during what could be a winter of discontent.
It is not known exactly how services will be impacted during the latest round of strikes but ScotRail have said that they will update passengers as soon as they have more information. However they said the impact would be ‘significant.’

In a statement on Twitter, ScotRail said: “RMT union members of ScotRail will be taking part in strike action on Saturday 29 October. RMT union members of Network Rail will also strike on Thursday 3 November, Saturday 5 November and Monday 7 November.”
“The impact on our services will be significant and we’ll update you in the coming days with further information.”
The strikes will hamper the ability of those trying to attend Halloween events over the weekend but the disruption the following week will also affect those travelling for Guy Fawkes celebrations.
Services have also been impacted by RMT members deciding not to work overtime from October 14. The RMT recently rejected ScotRail's latest pay offer of a 5 per cent basic pay increase, a six-year job guarantee, a one-off £500 payment for technology such as mobile phones and improved maternity leave conditions.
In a statement on Twitter, the RMT announced last week that the: “RMT have called a second day of strike action at @ScotRail on Saturday 29th October after railway bosses failed to make an acceptable pay offer.
“We have issued a circular with further information by email and text to all ScotRail members. Now is the time to stand together and win a pay offer that addresses the rising cost of living.
“Let's fight back for pay justice!”
