Edinburgh rail passengers face cancellations after signalling fault in West Lothian

Network Rail have informed rail travellers that they could be facing cancellations or at the very least 20 minute delays between Shotts and Edinburgh.

The issue is said to have been caused by a fault with a signalling system between West Calder and Livingston South.

They say that all stations between Shotts and Livingston South will not be served and that the disruption is expected until 8.30am.

Network Rail said: “A fault with the signalling system between West Calder and Livingston South means trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or cancelled.

“All stations between Shotts and Livingston South will not be served. “Disruption is expected until 08:30am.”

They add: “You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.”

Network Rail added that tickets will also be accepted on Edinburgh trams between the Edinburgh Gateway - Edinburgh Park - Haymarket - St Andrews Square.

They will also be accepted on Lothian Buses between Edinburgh City Centre and Curriehill in both directions.
