Edinburgh rail enthusiasts to get chance to see historic locomotive this weekend

Rail enthusiasts will be able to get the chance to see the historic Scots Guardsman locomotive as it makes its way to the capital and back from York.

The train was originally built in 1927 and has featured as a film star in the 1936 movie Night Mail.

The steam locomotive is understood to have been rebuilt in 1947 when it received a new type 2A boiler and was painted in LMS 1946-style black livery.

The train will then take a short reprieve in Edinburgh, before its tour will recommence and it will depart back for York at 4.54pm.

It will then stop at Prestonpans at 5.04pm, Dunbar 7.39pm, Berwick-upon-Tweed 6.09pm, Alnmouth 7.21pm, Morpeth 8.04pm, Newcastle 8.26pm, Northallerton 9.43pm, Thirsk 9.51pm and York 10.26pm.
