Edinburgh property you can buy for £250,000 compared to other UK cities

Hopping up the property ladder can be tricky, especially in Edinburgh city centre.

Looking on sales site Rightmove, we have compiled a list of properties in some UK cities.

We filtered our search to see what property we could get for £250,000 in comparison to Edinburgh - and the results were quite an eye-opener.

Many are opting for a more frugal way of life at the moment, understandably wanting to get more for their money as a cost of living crisis deepens.

Edinburgh has recently been named one of the most expensive cities in the UK but is this borne out by our small sample?

Starting with Scotland’s capital, for £250,000 you would only be able to afford a one bedroom flat in Hillside.

While modern and well presented, the flat is rather small and would only be suitable for one person or maybe a professional couple.

Edinburgh is not off to a good start as this is the second smallest property for £250k on this list. The flat can be viewed here.

As could have been predicted, London appears to be the worst value for money. For the large sum of £250,000, a quirky studio flat is on the table, giving in to the predictable struggling artist vibes.

Leaving little room to live, at least with this studio you can get access to the outdoor pool. Which may not be desirable in the winter months.

While it might be handy for some to have the kitchen, living room and bedroom in the same room, it definitely isn't the best value for money on this list. View the studio here.

Liverpool will give you a slightly bigger property than the first two, with a two-bedroom spacious flat in the city centre.

Brand new and modern you could also get a balcony with this flat which could satisfy any garden desires while living in a city centre. View the full property here.

Looking to Wales’ capital, Cardiff, you certainly seem to get more for your money. In this city you could afford a three-bedroom terraced house with your £250k.

A significant step up from London’s studio, this property also includes a front and back garden. Modern and newly built, this home would be perfect for a small family. See full pictures here.

Last but by no means least, we found no Belfast properties listed that were over the £250,000 mark.

In Belfast £250k will buy you a five bedroom, three story house (Rightmove)

All were below this amount and were much larger than we have previously seen on this list. One particular property has three floors and five bedrooms for £169,950.

This includes a small patio garden area and a separate kitchen and dining room layout. View this vast property here.

After reviewing some UK cities we can conclude that if you’re looking to buy a property in a city, Edinburgh would not be the best value for money.
