Edinburgh property: Inside the majestic townhouse on the market for nearly £2 million

A new property has gone up for sale in Edinburgh, with an eye-watering price tag.

28 Great King Street, in the capital's New Town, is a five-bedroom townhouse available to buy now. However, only offers over £1,750,000 are being considered.

With households across Scotland and beyond struggling to pay bills and put food on the table amid the worsening cost of living crisis, only a select few will have enough money to purchase the grand property. Still, it's fun to take a look inside and see what could have been.

The newly refurbished townhouse is located within walking distance of Princes Street, George Street, and the West End, making it ideal for business and pleasure. It resides over three floors, and its simple and tasteful decor throughout exudes opulence.

Entering the property, you are greeted by a gorgeous hall. Tiled flooring and grand columns immediately let you know that you are in a very expensive home, which may be what the eventual buyer intends.

You are then guided through to the staircase, which opens up the rest of the property. First though, take a right into the "large and impressive 24ft dining room which can accommodate numerous guests", with wooden floors and grey-blue walls.

Elsewhere on the ground floor, you will find the "modern and contemporary kitchen" which "provides high specification fixtures and fittings" such as Siemens appliances, induction hobs and a Quooker tap. It also has a "spacious" kitchen island, as well as room for a dining table.

Moving up to the first floor, the highlight is the "magnificent" south-facing drawing room, which contains three large floor-to-ceiling windows to let in an abundance of natural light. Others gorgeous features of the room include its parquet wood flooring, feature fireplace with marble mantelpiece, and high ceilings.

The first floor also contains the "principal bedroom suite", which has two walk-in wardrobes, and a modern en-suite bathroom with roll top bath, large shower, sink and WC. The floor also houses a cloakroom WC, perfect for guests.

On the second floor, you will find the four other bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, as well as an additional family bathroom. The fourth and fifth bedrooms offer far-reaching views over the New Town towards the Firth of Forth.

The listing states: "28 Great King Street is an exceptional townhouse and has been extensively restored and refurbished for modern living. Upon entering, the fully tiled floor, large pillars and sweeping staircase provide a great first impression.
