Edinburgh prisoner subjected primary school pupil to horrific rape ordeal

A sex attacker who subjected a primary school pupil to a horrific rape ordeal told his child victim: "You want this".

Jaroslav Mako took the girl to an address in Pumpherston, in West Lothian, before subjecting her to the assault despite her screaming for help and trying to fight him off.

A judge told Mako at the High Court in Edinburgh: "You have plead guilty to the appalling sexual abuse of an 11-year-old child."

Mako ,32, a Slovakian national who was previously jailed in his homeland, admitted raping the girl on September 18 last year, when he appeared in court on Wednesday.

During the rape he seized her by the body, put her on a sofa, removed clothing and touched and kissed the child.

Advocate depute Gavin Anderson said that after arriving at the property Mako pulled the girl down onto a sofa and took off her t-shirt, leggings and underwear.

The prosecutor said she questioned what he was doing and was told to be quiet.

Mr Anderson said: "She tried to fight him off. She was very scared and was screaming for help. She repeatedly told the accused to stop it."

He said the girl became exhausted trying to defend herself against her adult assailant and Mako began touching and kissing her and removed his clothes.

He raped the child telling her she wanted it and "It's good". She told him to go away and that she did not like it.

Another man heard the upset girl shouting that she wanted to be left alone and entered the property.

Mako, who had been living in Armadale, in West Lothian, after arriving in Scotland in 2020, was later detained by police and claimed during an interview that he did not have any sexual contact with the girl.

He said that he was quite intoxicated when he went to the address and forensic evidence linked him to the assault on the child.

Lord Richardson deferred sentence on Mako, who is currently a prisoner in Edinburgh's Saughton jail, for the preparation of a background report.

He was remanded in custody ahead of sentencing next month and was placed on the sex offenders' register.
