Edinburgh Princes Street Kingdom of Sweets window 'shattered with fire extinguisher'

A busy Edinburgh city centre store has been left with a shattered window as vandals apparently targeted the premises using an unusual weapon.

Kingdom of Sweets, on Princes Street were left with a heavily cracked window this morning, February 17, as the vandals also left behind a fire extinguisher that appeared to have caused the damage.

After only operating for a few years, the business has proved a hotspot for locals and tourists with a sweet tooth, specialising in American brands of candy and offering a huge pick n mix section.

As well as stocking sweets, the company also have exclusive brands of fizzy drinks and snacks available to customers.

The company, that currently own various stores and pop-ups across Europe, also expanded their famous pick n mix selection to the Edinburgh Christmas Market in 2021, offering tourists their pick of gummy delights.

Standing out for their purple decor and bright multi-coloured LED lights when darkness falls, it's impossible to not notice the store as you pass by.

But, someone has obviously taken umbrage with the company into their owns hands and left the store with a repair job as one of the huge glass panels was left completely shattered at some stage during the night.

Although it is unclear whether an attempted break-in was at the centre of the incident, or just mindless vandalism, the person or people responsible apparently made no attempt to conceal the makeshift battering ram, as the bright red fire extinguisher was left on the ground outside the store.

Kingdom of Sweets have been contacted for a comment on the incident.
