A local councillor has slammed the theft of three bikes from a shed at a primary school in the north of the capital.
Euan Hyslop, an SNP councillor for the Dum Brae and Gyle ward, shared the news of the theft and condemned the act in a post on social media. The local representative hoped to alert those in the area to be vigilant and keep an eye out for those trying to steal bikes in the area.
The incident is understood to have taken place at Clermiston Primary School in the afternoon of Friday August 5 at around 12:30pm. Thieves had forced their way into a bike shed at the premises and it is believed they made off with three bicycles.

Councillor Hyslop says that the theft comes at a time when families are already “struggling to make ends meet.”
He added that he hopes to continue to work alongside schools and parents to ensure that safe cycling can remain a viable mode of transport for local pupils.
He said: “I was saddened to hear the news that bikes were stolen from the school's bike shed on Thursday night. It's beggars belief that individuals would target the possessions of children at a time when many families are struggling to make ends meet.
“I've been working closely with the Parent Council who are keen to encourage more walking and cycling to school. I'll continue to work constructively with the whole community to ensure cycling continues to be a safe and secure choice for getting to school.”
Officers confirmed that they were looking into the incident and said that enquiries were continuing to take place.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a break-in and theft from a premises on Parkgrove Place, Edinburgh, around 12.30pm on Friday, 5 August, 2022.
“Entry to a shed was gained and bicycles were taken.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
Edinburgh City Council have been contacted for comment.
