Edinburgh police and a local animal rescue are desperately searching for a young dog’s family after she was found alone in a stairwell in Fountainbridge on Tuesday morning.
“This little lady was a little lost on her walk this morning but has made plenty of friends at Wester Hailes Police Station,” Edinburgh police Tweeted.
“Can you help us reunite her with her owner and get her home for dinner?”

Police took ‘Little Lady’ to the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home where she was scanned for a microchip and staff looked for a collar or other identification.
“She isn’t microchipped and there’s no collar so it’s impossible for us to track down the owners,” a spokesperson for the Dog and Cat Home said.
“Getting your dog microchipped is the best thing you can do for your canine companion.”
The loveable Staffie is between 6 and 8 years old according to the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home, and although she’s a friendly and loveable dog, the rescue said she’s feeling a bit anxious after her stressful morning.
“She is very friendly, a little bit anxious right now but being well-looked after and loved by Ainslie, a Kennel Assistant, here at the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home,” the rescue home said.
According to Police Scotland, ‘Little Lady’ was found abandoned in a stairwell on Upper Grove Place in Edinburgh’s Fountainbridge at 9am on Tuesday.
Rescuers say she is currently being checked over by a vet before settling into her temporary accommodation at the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home rescue.
The dog has not been injured, and the rescuers say she is safe and healthy at the animal rescue while staff are searching for her owners.
“She’s a healthy and obviously well loved pet. We’re hoping her owners post about her on Facebook or get in touch so we can get her home, but in the meantime she’s safe in our care.”
“She will remain at the home in the hope that someone, somewhere will recognise her and she can return to a loving home,” staff said.
Anyone with any knowledge of the dog, can reach the Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home on 0131 669 5831.
