Edinburgh police lock down busy city centre shopping area amid ongoing incident

Edinburgh police have locked down a busy area of the city centre in an ongoing incident.

A police van and at least five officers were spotted at the start of Multrees Walk near St Andrews Square as an eye witness came across the worrying scenes shortly after 10:30pm on Friday.

A picture from the area shows the riot van parked next to a stationary silver vehicle that is reportedly involved in the unknown incident, as officers are seen speaking to those passing the street.

Concerned shoppers can be seen looking on at the incident outside the Louis Vuitton store.

A passer-by told Edinburgh Live that it looked like police were still on the hunt for another individual connected with the incident.

They added: "We just came around the corner and noticed the blue flashing lights. I could see at least five officers standing and two were chatting with another two individuals.

"The silver car appears to be involved somehow and looks abandoned in the middle of the road. The other officers also look to be trying to track someone else down."

Police Scotland were approached for comment.
