Edinburgh police called in to clamp down on drivers outside primary school

Officers were out in front of an Edinburgh primary school to enforce road regulations after they had received complaints of motorists playing foul.

Police in the south west of the capital positioned themselves by Colinton Primary School on the morning of Monday November 14.

They say that their services were called upon as parents and teachers had become concerned that drivers were ignoring signs outside of the school.

It was hoped that police being on site would help deter rule breaking motorists and ensure the safety of young children trying to attend their local school.

There is a pedestrian zone outside of the school that only allows pedestrians and cyclists when lights are flashing however those in cars and motorbikes have been found to be ignoring the zone.

Police Scotland said that they would be back to the school in order to ensure that they can maintain safety at Colinton primary.

They shared on Twitter: “We had a presence outside Colinton Primary School @ColintonPrimary this morning after reports of drivers ignoring these signs. They're there to keep children safe! We'll be back.”
