Police Scotland have asked for the help of the public in tracing a missing 60-year-old man who went missing on the night of Saturday June 18.

Officers say that Niall Sandilands was last seen by his family at Craigour Crescent, Edinburgh, at around 10:30pm.

At the time of his disappearance he was understood to be wearing a grey jacket, grey hooded top, light coloured tan trousers with grey coloured jogging and a grey flat cap.

Niall was reported missing by his family at around lunchtime on Sunday June 19.

It is believed that police have carried out extensive searches of the local area but have been unable to sight the elderly gentleman.

Niall is known to regularly visit Gorgie Farm and the Gilmerton community.

Police are checking any relevant CCTV footage for any additional information on the missing man.

Sergeant Graeme Gillan of Police Scotland said: “Our concern for Niall is growing as his family has informed us he may have dementia, although this has not been medically diagnosed.

“His family is understandably concerned for his welfare and just want him home safe and well.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen Niall or who knows anything of his whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible.”

“Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 1782 of 19 June 2022.”
