Edinburgh Playhouse Meatloaf tribute as bikers play 'Bat out of Hell'

This is the moment a large group of motorcyclists paid tribute to the late rockstar Meatloaf with an entourage of vintage motorbikes revving their engines in Edinburgh.

The official Facebook account for the Bat Out of Hell musical, currently playing at Edinburgh Playhouse, posted the video with the caption: "Roaring into Edinburgh!"

Comments flooded in in awe at the spectacle, with one Facebook user stating: "What an atmosphere. Nearly crying before I even went in!!!"

Another comment read: "This is so cool! Meat would have loved it!"

Further comments read: "Bikers unite!", and "This sound is like music to my ears."

The motorbikes lined the street from the start of Edinburgh Playhouse, all the way down to CC Bloom's, flashing their lights and revving their engines as theatregoers gazed in amazement at the special tribute.

American rocker Meatloaf, known as Marvin Lee Aday to family and friends, passed away on January 21 surrounded by his wife and other family members at home.

"Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours.

"His amazing career spanned six decades that saw him sell over 100 million albums worldwide and star in over 65 movies, including Fight Club, Focus, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Wayne's World."

The Bat Out of Hell musical is a show dedicated to the singer, depicting a loose tale of Peter Pan set in post-apocalyptic Manhattan.

The show features music, lyrics and book by Jim Steinman, based on the Bat Out of Hell album, which is still regarded as one of the top 10 best-selling records of all time.

You can catch the Bat Out of Hell musical at Edinburgh Playhouse from now until Saturday, February 19, with tickets available here.
