An Edinburgh cafe that serves as 'a reimagining of the traditional Scottish pie shop' has been praised by renowned American paper the Wall Street Journal.
They've just compiled a list of 'Edinburgh’s Top New Restaurants', with writers recommending seven food spots across the city they feel is worth paying a visit.
And one place to make the list - which doesn't quite conform to the 'restaurant' stereotype, is a beautiful Leith cafe that does a roaring trade on the back of its coffees, sweets and rolls, but in particular its rejuvenation of the classic Scottish pie.

On the menu at Chums - which is located on Henderson Street - you'll find the likes of Scotch, haggis and mash and macaroni pies, as well as the 'pie on a roll'.
As we reported when Chums opened up in June 2021, the owners behind the beautiful one-of-a-kind cafe said: "Chums is a local spot serving up pies, just like gran used to make, beans and coffee.
"No fuss. Nothing fancy. Just pies and beans."
Commenting about the 'kitsch-cool' Leith food spot, the Wall Street Writer said 'it’s refreshing to see that the old ways haven’t died out completely', adding: "On my last day in town, I pass Chums, a tiny café with a red-and-white-striped awning and neon signage, and can’t resist going in. The retro menu board advertises pies, bacon rolls and pies in rolls, along with an array of cookies and cakes.
"There’s a “Diet starts tomorrow” poster and a “Nice as Pie” banner on the wall.
"Chums, another Covid baby, might be a kitsch-cool reimagining of the traditional Scottish pie shop but after all that refined food, it’s refreshing to see that the old ways haven’t died out completely.
"I buy a haggis and mash pie and as I unwrap it on the train journey back to London, I think how much my grandmother would have enjoyed it."

Meanwhile the six other capital spots to make the Wall Street Journal list of seven were the newly opened Spence at Gleneagles Townhouse, the brilliant Palmerston, legendary wine shop and bar Spry and the much-loved Mistral, Leith's Lind and Lime Distillery and the award-winning Heron.
