Edinburgh pensioner rushed to hospital following two-car crash on major road

A pensioner has been rushed to hospital following a crash in the Gilmerton area of Edinburgh.

Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service rushed to Gilmerton Station Road at around 4.45pm on Sunday May 14, after receiving a report of a collision involving two vehicles.

The road was closed for around five hours as emergency crews attended the scene and an 85-year-old woman was rushed to the Royal Infirmary for hospital treatment

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.45pm on Sunday, 14 May, 2023, police were called to a report of a crash involving two vehicles on Gilmerton Station Road, Edinburgh.

“Emergency services attended and an 85-year-old woman was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary hospital for treatment.

“The road was closed for around five hours. Enquiries are ongoing.”
