Edinburgh Paolo Nutini fans fume at 'scamming' touts selling tickets for £591

Paolo Nutini fans searching for tickets to his Edinburgh O2 Academy gig have been left antagonised, after 'scamming' ticket touts have snapped up the quantities, and are selling them on for 'ridiculous' prices.

Paolo Nutini's newest tour, Last Night in the Bittersweet, went on sale to fans on Wednesday morning, and sold out almost immediately, showing 'No Tickets Available' at approximately 9:05am.

And so far, the highest price for a single standing ticket on the Viagogo website, which is renowned for it's extortionate pricing, is sitting at £591!

Other prices range from £204 to £475, for one single general admission ticket, and this has got fans of the Scottish singer-songwriter fuming over on social media.

One agonised Twitter user wrote: "Massive victory for Ticket Bot United today grabbing all the Paolo Nutini tickets.

"Aberdeen and Edinburgh sold out immediately. I really hope no one is daft enough to pay these prices."

Another said: "any ticket touts that are selling tickets over the face value need a kick in the b***. Only wanted 2 tickets for Edinburgh."

And a third wrote: "Presale for Edinburgh on a completely different website to the rest and did not work at all and not a single ticket available this morning but they're being resold for £300-500."

Further comments read: "My son got the pre order new album and didn’t get access the the pre sale, then tried this morning to get tickets for Edinburgh, with no joy, now folk are selling them for £250 and upwards, so much for loyalty to fans, a ******* shambles."

A fifth added: "I love Paolo Nutini but there's no way that Edinburgh gig sold out in less than 10 second, absolute shambles, day ruined, SEETHING!"

A spokesperson for Viagogo said: “Viagogo provides a safe and fully regulated platform for anyone who has spare tickets or no longer wishes to attend an event to sell these on to fans who may have missed out the first time round.

“As we saw from presale and previous ticket releases, Paolo Nutini’s events are in extremely high demand and this ultimately filters through to prices on dynamic marketplaces, like viagogo – but prices do fluctuate and could drop.

"Listing prices are set by the seller but are ultimately determined by the fans in a free marketplace and our platform takes nothing away from artists, promoters and venues who, in the case of Paolo Nutini’s popular tour, sold out all their tickets at the prices they set.

“Any restrictive conditions imposed by an event organiser aim to limit flexibility in the ticketing process and only end up harming fans who’ve purchased valid tickets.

"All restrictions are always clearly displayed on our platform but fans should have peace of mind that in the rare case they are refused entry to an event, they are covered by the Viagogo Guarantee.”

Paolo Nutini's newest album, Last Night in the Bittersweet, is currently available for pre-order, and will be released on July 1.
