Locals have been left devastated after a local shop has announced it will be closing its doors.
The Scotmid Co-op on Raeburn Place, Stockbridge confirmed they will be shutting permanently after years of serving the community. The last full day of trading will be on January 19 before they shut at 12pm on January 20.
This comes as the lease of the building will come an end and after a 'period of 'tough trading' Scotmid has decided not to renew it. Seen by locals, the poster on the door reads: "Store closure. We regret to inform you that this store will close on Friday 20th January at noon. Your nearest Scotmid store is at 56-60 Hamilton Place. Thank you for your custom over the years."

Scotmid have said that the staff have been informed are working with them to offer alternative employment where they can in the area.
On Facebook, customers flocked to the comments to express their sadness.
One said: "It’ll be missed."
A second added: "That’s so bad my mother in law goes to this shop on a daily basis as it’s convenient for her she is 81."
"Not the nearest to me but I'll miss the 'weigh-it-yourself' facility," another said referring to the refill station.
And a fourth reminisced: "Remember when it was a Woolies."
One local added: "Probably be another cafe or charity shops only thing Stockbridge has these days."
"Another loss of an A.T.M" said another.
Kevin Plant, Head of Food at Scotmid said: “With great regret, we are announcing that our Stockbridge store on Raeburn Place will close on Friday January 20 2023. The lease on the building is reaching the end and with the impact of increased costs and high rent set against a prolonged period of tough trading, we have taken the decision not to renew it.
“All affected staff have been informed and we are working with them to offer alternative employment at other Scotmid stores in the area where we have vacancies. Customers can continue to shop with us at our closest Scotmid store which can be found on Hamilton Place and we look forward to welcoming them there.”
