Edinburgh named among the best Christmas markets in the UK

It's one of the most popular Christmas markets in Europe, and according to new research, it's also one of the best in the UK for people to visit. Edinburgh's festive market has been named in the top 10 UK-wide in a new study conducted by Christmas Tree World.

CTW has revealed what it says are the best Christmas markets from around the UK for 2022, so you can enjoy the festive season to the full this year.

A spokesperson for the firm said: "The festive season isn’t complete without a trip to a Christmas market, whether that be in the UK or overseas they always add an extra sprinkle of magic to the festivities!

"Known for mulled wine, beautiful Christmas trees roasted chestnuts and unique Christmas decorations there’s something for the whole family to explore."

They added that their study took in factors such as Instagram mentions, hotel costs, the length of time the market runs for, and average Google searches.

The only Scottish entry in the top 10, Edinburgh placed sixth in the list, though it ranked in the top three for most Instagram mentions.

The news comes as My Voyage Scotland also revealed the popular Scottish market has racked up 87,000 global searches alone this month – a 307% increase from last year.

The Edinburgh Christmas market is set to have over 70 vendors serving a mix of Christmas gifts, and food.

The Market will also, have a Ferris wheel and ice skating rink among other amusements.
