An Edinburgh music store is due to close its doors for the last time after 170 years in the city centre.
Rae Macintosh Musicroom on Shandwick Place just off the west end of Princes Street will stop trading at the end of March.
According to the music shop’s website, they originally opened in George Street in the 1850s and relocated to the now present location in 2013.

A statement on Rae MacIntosh’s Facebook said: “On Monday 20th of February we received the sad news that our store will cease trading to the public on Friday 31st of March due to market conditions.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued custom and loyalty to Rae Mac’s despite the exceptional challenges of past three years.”
The music shop boasted a range of music books, instruments, accessories and gifts for music lovers.
Alongside physical items the musical store throughout the years taught many budding musicians music lessons including the guitar, fiddle and drums.
During the music stores time at George Street, they sold vinyls and record players to residents of Edinburgh.
Together with the announcement of the Edinburgh store, Hal Leonardo, the organisation behind Rae Macintosh announced the closure of six other stores including Dublin, York and Exeter.
However, the London flagship store is due to stay open to provide music lovers with the tools to learn with an array of instruments and vinyl’s.
Rae MacIntosh’s, Managing Director said: “As part of this restructure, Musicroom Edinburgh will be closed, as well as six other Musicroom retail stores across the UK and Ireland.
“Musicroom Edinburgh has contributed significantly to the local music-making community over many years, and our decision to restructure in this way has been very difficult…”
