It may be something that you've only ever witnessed on TV shows and movies but getting up at the crack of dawn while on holiday abroad to queue for a sunbed is very much a reality we live in.
Recently, footage has emerged online of holidaymakers waiting to be given the all-clear by hotel staff and then sprint to the nearest sunbed and throw their towels down to reserve them.
One hotel within the tourist hotspot of Tenerife has become known all over the UK after footage captured by Brits staying there. And now one local mum from Edinburgh has shared footage with Edinburgh Live of the "hilarious" scenes firsthand while staying at the four-star Spanish resort Spring Hotel Bitacora.

The footage, in the form of a 45-second video, begins with a sea of holidaymakers queuing, some in their dressing gowns, in multiple different lines and sitting on steps waiting to be allowed next to the pool where the sun loungers are.
Once staff remove the cordon and set them free, dozens of tourists sprint towards the limited amount of sun beds and toss their towels down to reserve them for the day.

People at the front of the queue are pictured running along poolside to claim the best loungers, while others follow-up to claim whatever has been left. As the Edinburgh mum walks towards the pool area, one by one each sun lounger has an item of clothing on it to indicate it has already been claimed.
Families can be seen with huge piles of towels waiting to be given the green light to swarm the side of the pool and claim as many as they can. Various clips have found their way onto social media platform TikTok, and going viral in the process with millions of views.
According to the Mirror, some Brits were prepared to wait up to 90 minutes just to secure their sunbed for the day. One clip shared on TikTok referred to the incident every morning as a "sunbed war," with hundreds of users in the comments saying that it was ridiculous that people actually get involved in a spat over where to sit for a few hours.
