A frustrated Edinburgh motorist was stuck in gridlock traffic earlier this evening as police had to be called in to help direct traffic at a roundabout adjacent to Glasgow Road.
The driver was trying to navigate the roundabout used by travellers heading to Edinburgh airport at around 5:00pm.
But they were met with a scene of pandemonium as cars tailed back up the slip road and police tried to manage the situation.

Cars can be seen parked up on the grass embankment next to their vehicle as thousands flocked to the capital for Halloween events including music festivals and the rugby match at Murrayfield stadium.
Motorists were trapped in the chaos for over half an hour and say that the cars left on the grass verges looked as though they had been abandoned.
The driver, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “Traffic came to a standstill before we’d even reached the roundabout at the airport.
“We sat for around thirty minutes before even getting on to the roundabout and when we did there were dozens of cars parked on the side of the road and roundabout.
“They looked like they’d be abandoned, it was absolute chaos.
“There were police guiding traffic through the roundabout but we thought there had been an accident because it was such a shambles.”
It is not known if the rail strikes taking place across Scotland have impacted the traffic issues on the outskirts of the capital.
Police Scotland were contacted for comment.
