Edinburgh man suffers 'serious injuries' after falling from second floor window

A man has been rushed to hospital after sustaining “serious injuries” during a fall from a second floor window at a block of flats in Edinburgh.

Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service and Police Scotland officers were alerted to the scene in the Newhaven area of the Capital on Saturday afternoon following a flurry of calls from concerned neighbours.

Eyewitnesses told how a “huge” presence arrived in Nichollfield shortly before 2pm in response to the incident.

The 40-year-old is understood to have fallen from a window on the second floor of the property but was later taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment.

Officers said he suffered ‘serious injuries,’ but confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 40-year-old man was injured after falling from a second floor window at a property on Nichollfield in Edinburgh.

"He has been taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh with serious injuries.

"There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.”
