Edinburgh man rushed to hospital following attack as police launch investigation

A man has been rushed to hospital after a “disturbance” in Edinburgh on Saturday evening, sparking an emergency response.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance service, raced to Parkgrove Road in the Clermiston area of the city after the call was raised at around 7:45pm. Upon arrival, officers found a man injured in the street.

The man was rushed to hospital for treatment. However, the extent of his injuries and what led to him being injured are not yet known.

Photos from the scene show a number of police cars parked in the area while uniformed officers stood guard nearby. The road has been cordoned off with police tape and plain clothes officers can be seen making enquiries.

According to the Daily Record, it is understood that an investigation is currently underway to determine whether a weapon was used in the incident. However, this incident is believed to be “isolated” and that there is no threat to the wider public.

Local area inspector Alastair Linley told the Scottish Sun: “We responded to a report of a disturbance and we traced an injured party in the street.

"He has been taken to hospital for treatment and enquiries are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances and to understand if a weapon has been utilised.

"We are just at the early stages. There is quite a bit of police activity in the street, but it’s nothing for the public to be worried about. At this time we do believe it is an isolated incident.”
