Edinburgh police are appealing to the public for information after a 54-year-old man died in a road traffic collision on the M8 near Edinburgh.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 23, when a single heavy goods vehicle overturned a short distance west of the Hermiston Gait Roundabout. Emergency services raced to the scene shortly after 4pm after the call was raised.
The driver was rescued from the vehicle but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. Police have now made his family aware of the incident.

The road was closed for around 12 hours to allow for an investigation at the scene and to allow for recovery of the vehicle to be arranged. The police are now trying to establish what caused the incident and are urging anyone with information or dashcam footage of the incident to get in touch.
Anyone with information is advised to contact the police on 101 and quote incident number 2184 of August 23. Sergeant Paul Ewing, of Police Scotland’s Road Policing Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man involved in this incident.
“Our enquiries to establish what led to this incident are ongoing and I would urge anyone with information to come forward.
“We would be keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam footage of the vehicle. “Anyone with information can call 101, quoting reference 2184 of 23 August.”
