Edinburgh M8 drivers face '40 minute delay' as early-morning crash causes chaos

Drivers heading to Edinburgh on the M8 have been warned to expect long delays after an early-morning crash caused chaos.

Those using the eastbound lanes of the motorway on Monday morning have been told they could be sitting in a '40 minute' tailback due to the incident.

Taking place shortly after 7am at junction three in West Lothian near Blackburn, reports have claimed the incident involved two vehicles.

It is unclear if there were any injuries as a result of the crash. One eastbound lane had been blocked for around 30 minutes while the scene was cleared, however both lanes have now fully reopened.

Despite the M8 now being clear, tailbacks caused by the earlier blockage has meant that there are still long queues stretching through West Lothian.

In an update on social media, Traffic Scotland said: "#M8 - J3 All lanes have now re-opened on the #M8 at J3 Livingston Eastbound. Traffic is still tailing back on approach, with around a 40 minute travel time heading into Edinburgh."
