Edinburgh LOVE Gorgie farm set to offer plenty of Christmas family fun

A bit of a hidden gem, there's a little farm in the heart of Edinburgh that's promising a whole host of fun festive events for visiting families to enjoy this Christmas.

LOVE Gorgie, known previously as Gorgie City Farm, is found on Gorgie Road and was first opened in the early 80s and has since been transformed by LOVE Learning Scotland who rescued it from administration and turned it into a centre for learning and fun.

Home to a petting zoo filled with adorable animals that visiting kids can meet and coorie up to, this festive season, the farm is offering plenty of fun for families in the capital.

As well as Christmas illuminations, they will be offering a Santas Grotto each weekend (Fri until Sun) from December 2 until the weekend before Christmas, and a North Pole Post Office, where kids can come along and bring their own letter for Santa or use our own template copies to send through our North Pole Mail Service.

They will then receive a personalised reply from Santa and a Nice List Certificate.

Their 12 Days of Christmas competition will see any child submitting a creative piece such as a poem, artwork or written piece to the farm, gaining the chance to be one of 12 winners who shall be invited along to the farm to choose a numbered bauble from our prize tree to win the prize associated with that number, with prizes including Alpaca Treks, cuddle corners and a special prize submitted by Rangers Football Club, a tour of Ibrox Stadium for 4 people.

Touchingly, they've also created a Memory Bauble, where people can buy a bauble which they can then put a message to a loved one or a photo within, and then place on their festive Memory Tree.

And to help other children in need, the farm is also hosting a Toy Drive, with toys accepted at the farm, wrapped and distributed to families in need this Christmas who possibly can’t afford presents for their children.
