Christmas holidays are nearly upon us, and many would already have their festive plans all drawn up. A local public transport company, however, is urging people not to forget about planning their journeys, too.
Lothian Buses have released their festive schedule for this year's Christmas period while urging people to take the changes into consideration when out and about in the city.

There will still be services across the capital and the surrounding areas so that people can enjoy the festivities. However, some will be inevitably reduced to a lighter festive schedule.
Below is a summary of what you can expect from the Lothian Buses services for the Christmas period:
- Christmas Eve - December 24 - A Saturday service will be in operation with the last buses through the city centre at approximately 9.30pm.
- Christmas Day - December 25 - Special service with some services running until approximately past 11pm and no night buses.
- Boxing Day - December 26 - Special service with some services running up until midnight and no night buses.
- December 27 to 30 - Saturday service with night services resuming from December 28.
- Hogmanay - December 31 - A Saturday Service with services finishing earlier than normal, with last journeys through the city centre at approximately 9.30pm. Diversions will be in place across the city centre for Hogmanay celebrations in the capital.
- New Year's Eve/Day - January 1 - Special service with some services running up until midnight and no night buses.
- Monday, January 2 - Special service with no night buses.
- Tuesday, January 3 - A Saturday Service with no night services. Services 15, 45 and 47B will operate to a Public Holiday timetable.
