A shocked Edinburgh resident glanced out of his window to see black smoke billowing from underneath the pavement on a busy road.
Guy Cheung was able to film the incident at around 8.45pm on Saturday March 25. He was sat in his living room when he heard what sounded like a mobile phone vibrating on a surface.

He realised that it was coming from outside of his home and when he looked out of his window he noticed black smoke coming from underneath pavement slabs outside of a Pizza Hut on Morningside Road. The fire is thought to have caused a partial blackout for residents on the street.
Guy said: “I was in the living room and heard a noise similar to a mobile phone vibrating on a table. It took me a while to realise it was actually outside and that is when I saw the fire.
“Emergency services arrived fairly quickly. I’m glad no one got hurt, and that people worked through the night to have power restored for a couple of the buildings around here who had been blacked out.
“The fire service arrived only five minutes or so after I shot the video. A bit of drama in otherwise sleepy Morningside.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 8.48pm on Saturday, 25 Match to reports of an electrical fire in Edinburgh.
"Operations Control mobilised one appliance to the city's Morningside Road, where firefighters worked to support their partners and make the area safe before leaving the scene."
