Edinburgh's most dangerous junctions have been revealed as city council chiefs launch a major safety review.
Some of the city's best known and busiest roads are named on the list across the capital. They include junctions in Haymarket, Holy Corner and Tollcross.
But the most dangerous junction in the city, according to the research, is in the hearts of the west end. The road that connects Princes Street, Lothian Road, South Charlotte Street, Shandwick Place, Queensferry Street and Hope Street gets the dubious honour.

Council officials set out to review 40 junctions in Edinburgh and report back their findings. They assessed factors including the amount of traffic passing through junctions, numbers of casualties, potential hazards, pedestrian waiting times and cycling continuity.
So Edinburgh Live went to the west end to visit 'the capital's most dangerous junction' and asked locals of their experiences.
Willie Hogg, 76, works as a doorman at a hotel overlooking the intersection. He said: "There are traffic lights in place and it is straightforward and I have never seen any accidents from here.
"I work two, three days a week and I don't think it is particularly dangerous. If people don't look at their phones and stay alert they should be able to get home safely.
"I've seen cars come down Lothian Road and go through red lights but other than that I have not seen any major incidents."

Rosslyn Alexander, 67 and her husband are elderly and need more time to cross the road and have concerns about the junction. She said: "I don't think that the traffic lights here at this junction gives me enough time to cross over.
"There are too many traffic lights in Edinburgh like that and especially in my neighbourhood were they just don't give you enough time to cross. This junction is a little bit intimidating as there are so many roads that connect to it."
Roseburn resident Tricia, 52, a cleaner in the area, said: "I think it might be a little bit dangerous as there are trams and lots of other transport coming backwards and forwards between Princes Street and the other streets.
"I think it was terrible when that person died. Edinburgh's roads are ridiculous, I know some roads are going to be better for us than others but in Roseburn there are some really awful streets."
A taxi driver in the area said: "I think it perfectly safe." He went on to say he had never seen anyone injured at the crossroads.
"When I hear on the radio about the junction I was surprised because I haven't heard or seen anything happen," he added.
"I think the most dangerous road in Edinburgh is up by the castle on that roundabout connecting Johnston Terrace as there are a lot of accidents there with lots of people like tourists around."
