A local councillor has slammed a piece of offensive graffiti that was left in place at the Edinburgh Gateway tunnel for several days despite a complaint being raised.
Conservative cllr, Mark Brown, who represents the Drumbrae and Gyle constituency, says that he had flagged the issue up alongside a constituent several days ago to Edinburgh City Council.

But he was left disappointed by the lack of immediate action considering the seriousness of the issue.
Alongside the graffiti complaint, the cllr also complained about the level of litter that was visible in the popular commuter route.
In the picture shared by cllr Brown, the words visible read: “CBAS HAD AIDS.”
It is not known who CBAS is but the implication of someone having aids being a reason for ridicule or shame is not appropriate for a public space.
Cllr Brown said: “I am appalled by this shameful and disgusting graffiti. Those responsible should be ashamed of themselves too.
“Whilst I’m pleased to learn that the Council have finally raised a job to have this offensive material removed, this has been flagged up by both myself and a constituent over the few days and there’s been no indication of any urgency to attend which is disappointing due to the nature of the incident.”
It is understood that the offensive graffiti was cleared this afternoon.
A Council spokesperson confirmed that the graffiti issue has been raised with the street cleansing team and is being removed on the afternoon of May 5 2022.
