The past week has seen baltic temperatures in the capital with snow, frost and ice hitting all areas of the city due to the Arctic blast.

During the freezing weather, this week locals were left astonished after a builder was pictured casually standing on a roof covered in glittering frost as he installed solar panels on the property.

The image shows the man standing in a black t-shirt appearing to be totally unscathed by the Baltic cold as he works away. Residents were quick to joke about the hardy Scottish man and question how useful solar panels would be in Edinburgh.

A local snapped the bizarre incident and shared it online leaving many residents in stitches.

They wrote: "Just spotted a guy in a short sleeve t-shirt fitting solar panels to a house down the road here in Edinburgh .. it’s currently -7c..."

One social media user joked: "Edinburgh doesn't seem like the best place to put solar panels."

Another joked: "Maybe the solar energy is flowing through his veins."

One person added: "Scottish made of stearin stuff."

While one said: "Ach he'll be fine he's in the sunshine."
