The first of some of Edinburgh's most iconic landmarks were lit up on Wednesday night (March 30) to honour legendary artist Van Gogh.
The Melville Monument in St Andrew Square dazzled onlookers as one of the artist's most iconic self-portraits was projected across the stonework.
Created by the Van Gogh Alive exhibit, curators have organised a number of his famous works to be beamed across the capital to celebrate his birthday.

With the interactive and multi-sensory attraction Van Gogh Alive arriving in Sheraton Square earlier this month, the venue has already seen hundreds of visitors walk through 'the life of the artist.'
Containing a 45-minute showcase of his life works, the experience has combined the artworks with audio, music and a visual display to bring them to life.
So far seeing impressive reviews, the exhibit will continue to project a painting across an Edinburgh landmark every evening at 8pm until Sunday (April 3.)
Beginning with St Andrew Square on March 30, sites such as the former Donaldson's school, Calton Hill and Leith Library will all see a work crop up in the coming days.
These will be as follows:
