A savvy IKEA shopper in Edinburgh discovered that she could get a "free dinner" at the furniture giant, and was quick to share the news online.
After enjoying a meal at the restaurant, they noticed that there was a QR code on their receipt that allowed them to get the price of their food off of any products purchased at the store.
By getting the cost of your food discounted from your overall bill, you can effectively enjoy a free meal at the retailer.

The customer posted the hack in the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group, writing: "IKEA hack! if you eat in the restaurant, keep your receipt as it will have a QR code to get the price of your meal off of whatever you buy in the store!
"Basically free dinner if you were going to buy something there anyway! This worked for me on 5/4/22 in Edinburgh."
They then offered an update with more information: "The offer is available in all UK IKEA stores except IKEA Warrington, and the Aberdeen, Birmingham, Norwich and Westfield Stratford City order and collection points.
"It can be redeemed against any home furnishing purchase, but not on purchases from the online store, Swedish food market, gift cards, Bistro, or on services such as home delivery.
"The offer is per purchase, so meals must all be bought on the same receipt. It is only available mid-week, and to get the QR code receipt you must eat after 4.30pm and you have until April 14 to claim your meal back."
Before long, the post had attracted over 1,000 likes and more than 1,800 comments — mostly from shoppers who were unaware of the offer.
One said: "This is news to me. But I'm gonna use it in the future."
"I didn't know that...I don't go often but good to know," shared a second.
A third wrote: "Seriously? I had no idea"
Another exclaimed: "Free meatballs!"
"Wow thanks for that," stated a fifth.
One satisfied customer revealed: "Yeah we done this and got £10.10 off"
Another Facebook user wasn't so keen on the idea of a free IKEA meal, commenting: "I would not bother because I eat in it a few weeks ago and it was the worst meal I ever ate".
