Speaking to Edinburgh Live Scott said: "I was just up at the Christmas markets near the Scots monument on Saturday night. He was an absolute gentleman and had no issue grabbing a photo. I'm a Hibee and from Edinburgh and a big John McGinn fan.

"I was just wondering about the markets with my girlfriend Haydyn, and she spotted him so huge credit to her for giving me an early Christmas present."

The excited fan shared the cute picture and wrote: "Up at the Christmas markets and met this hero" which was met with envy from hundreds of other fans.

Johnny Hogg exclaimed: "That's absolutely awesome!" Leighann Ford said: "Brilliant - Super John McGinn!"

While Peter J Fyanes said: "Yes he is still a legend at Hibs, he is still my number one player and my favourite Hibee even though he's at Aston Villa good to see him come back up to Edinburgh."

John McGinn played for Hibernian FC between 2015 and 2018 and coined the name Super John McGinn following the phenomenal cup final that led to the team winning their first Scottish Cup in over 100 years against Rangers at Hampden back in 2016.

Despite going on to have great success at Aston Villa and playing for the Scottish national team McGinn still reflects on the Hibs cup final as one of the greatest moments in his career.
