Edinburgh Hearts fans lead minute's applause in fitting tribute to Andrew MacKinnon

The family of 15-year-old Andrew MacKinnon, who passed away last month, brought footballs fans together for a minutes applause on Saturday.

Hearts played St Mirren at Tynecastle, with fans on both sides joining in a touching moment as the game entered its 15th minute. The Hearts loving teen collapsed after playing football near Forrester High School on March 14.

Posting on Twitter, Aaron Fraser captioned a video of the moment: "Andrew MacKinnon - Forever in our Hearts."

The footage pans across the stadium, as everyone joins in on the minutes applause. At one side of the stadium, a flag with paying tribute to Andrew sits on the wall.

Since Andrew's death, tributes from friends and family have poured in to the promising young footballer. Andrew's funeral took place on March 31, with the road outside Tynecastle awash with family and friends, as well as Hearts supporters as they said one final goodbye.

Speaking to Edinburgh Live following the death of his son, Andrew's dad (also called Andrew) said: "He was a really popular wee boy and a massive Hearts fan. He had so many friends and just loved his friends, family and football.

"He really was such a lovely wee boy and really loved his football. He died doing the thing he loved most and we are all heartbroken."
