Edinburgh Food Festival kicks off with workshops, markets and non-stop demos

Edinburgh foodies are in for a treat as ten days of non-stop demos, expert panels, classes and workshops kick starts the city's Food Festival 2022.

Starting on Friday, July 22, some of the country's best street food and drink will be on display in the shape of market stalls at the Assembly George Square Gardens in the city centre.

An appearance from 'The Kilted Chef' Craig Wilson will also take centre stage at the event, as well as a line-up of chef demonstrations and workshops taking place in the Tree House Kitchen, including Tomas Gormley and Sam Yorke, co-owners of Heron in Leith, who will demonstrate their farm to table approach to fine dining; and Williams & Johnson Coffee Co. revealing the secret to the perfect brew.

The Edinburgh Food Festival will open 12:00pm daily at Assembly George Square Gardens, Friday 22 to Sunday 31 July. To see the line-up of street food and market stalls appearing, and to view the full programme of events visit edfoodfest.com.

For younger foodies, Edinburgh Food Social will return to the event after a two year absence, bringing their brilliant and engaging cooker classes to the Tree House Kitchen. Their hands on workshop will also teach kids where their food comes from as they get a chance to enjoy preparing and eating their own meals.

Admission to these events are free, but places are limited so booking ahead is highly recommended in order to avoid missing out.

A daily line-up of street food will also leave guests sweating on where to buy from. Festival favourites Jarvis Pickle Pies (Berwickshire), Chick + Pea (Edinburgh), and Alandas Gelato and Fish & Chips (East Lothian) return once more, along with Mana Poké , Moskito Spanish Bites and their Bacchus Bar , serving up the finest Sangria for those long summer nights.

In addition to these Festival regulars, there will be Italian sweet delights from Maria’s Kakes, loaded nachos from global spice curators The Fat Flamingo, the tempting flavours of Peru from The Peruvian, and the indulgent dishes from Scottish Street Food Award Champion 2022 Junk.

The Festival food market also returns with some of Scotland’s best locally sourced and produced food and ingredients. Chorrito Sauce Co join caffeine lovers Pure Roasters Coffee and gluten free beer company Bellfield Brewery.
