Edinburgh firefighters tackle blaze on Princes Street as smoke seen pouring from bin

Fire crews have been pictured on Princes Street in Edinburgh in response to a blaze which took place on Saturday afternoon.

The incident is confirmed to have been a bin which was alight as one appliance was mobilised to the west end of the busy shopping thoroughfare around 3pm on May 27.

Images from the scene show firefighters extinguishing the blaze which originated from a black general waste bin next to a bus stop as smoke can be seen pouring out of it.

It is unclear if the bin was purposely set alight, as eye witnesses can be seen looking on in the background. A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed crews attended a fire within a bin on Princes Street.

One appliance was mobilised to the scene and crews have since left ensuring the area is safe.
