A section of the Pentland Hills on the outskirts of Edinburgh caught fire on Thursday afternoon as fire crews rushed to the scene.
Images show a section of hills facing Fairmilehead ablaze due to a suspected 'wildfire' shortly before 4pm on April 20. Clouds of smoke can be seen rising above homes in the Swanston area.
The famous hills, where wildfires occasionally break out, are a popular destination for cyclists and hikers, especially during the warmer summer months.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they received reports of a fire around 3.40pm and mobilised three appliances to the scene.
At around 5.30pm, crews were getting ready to leave having ensured the safety of the area. It is currently unclear what caused the blaze as concerned nearby residents spotted smoke rising above buildings in the area.
One said: "I smelt smoke as I had my window open and went outside to see what looked like a fire. The haar had been coming down off the hills all day so it could easily have been mistaken for that.
"Thankfully fire crews arrived on scene quickly and it looked like they had it under control."
