Edinburgh farm goes up in flames as fire crews race to battle blaze

Fire crews tackled a blaze at a farm in South Queensferry in the early hours of Monday morning.

The flames were reportedly spotted from miles away, with appliances from Fife and Edinburgh sent to the scene. Locals who spotted the blaze said six appliances were there.

Edinburgh Live understands the fire has now been extinguished. It's unclear if there were any injuries.

The building on Milton Farm, close to Dalmeny, went up in flames at around 1am on Monday morning. The B800 between Kirkliston and South Queensferry was shut as fire crews worked on putting out the fire.

Locals said the flames could be seen from the A90. William Scally, a local resident, told Edinburgh Live: "Milton Farm is on Fire in Between South Queensferry and Kirkliston.

"Four fire appliances are currently in attendance from Broxburn - Sighthill - Lochgelly and Dunfermline Fire Stations. One height appliance From Dunfermline Fire Station and one water carrier from Larbert Fire Station.

"The fire is well going and the B800 is fully closed between Kirkliston and South Queensferry whilst firefighters tackle the blaze, it’s expected the road may be closed for some time."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service have been approached for comment.
