An advert for an Edinburgh house share option has been posted online, offering the tenant a unique situation.
The family is offering up one of the five bedrooms for someone, in exchange for 15 hours a week of ‘household work’. There’s a catch, the tenant still has to pay the family £250 a month in rent.
The live-in cleaner would be asked to do cleaning, gardening or ‘creative projects’. They say the opportunity is perfect for a ‘student or part-time worker’.

The current household, which is made up of two males and two females, say they’re looking for someone without pets, no couples, no smokers, of any gender.
The advert states: “Long term accommodation for an exchange of 15hrs per week towards household tasks. Available from now.
“The double room (one person only) is part of a family home, centrally located, furnished with views of the castle. Long term, minimum 6 months.
“We are offering this room for an exchange of 15hrs per week. The time can be spread out between several days in a week, however, one session of 4/5hrs in a row is required.
“We are looking for some help around the house, whether it is cleaning or a bit of gardening or getting your hands on some creative projects (we upcycle a lot). This room will ideally suit a student or a part-time worker, who is happy to live in a sociable family environment
“Because of the exchange you will only need to pay a reduced rent of £250p/m, this includes bills. One month deposit of £250 is required.”
