A much-loved Italian restaurant in the west of Edinburgh has announced that they will be closing at the end of March 2023.
Customers of Fabio’s, on Glasgow Road, have flocked to their Facebook page to share their devastation at the announcement.
The family-run business has been a well respected eatery in the capital since they opened in 1999 but they say that their journey is now coming to an end on March 21.

They say that the decision was not taken lightly and that they have heavy hearts after deciding to close their doors.
The Fabio family also thanked all of their loyal customers, their past and present staff as well as their suppliers for making each celebration a fantastic experience and memory during their 23 years of service.
It is not known the reason behind the closure but the business shared a post on their Facebook: “After great consideration, Fabio’s Restaurant (23 Glasgow Road, Edinburgh) has made the difficult decision to permanently close our doors on March 21.
“The decision to close our family business after over 23 years of service has not come lightly. Our business has grown steadily over the years and we have enjoyed many wonderful experiences during that time which we will cherish forever.
“Fabio’s has been at the heart of the Corstorphine community and our time here getting to know each and every one of our customers, old and new, has been an absolute pleasure.
“We want to thank you for your love, support and loyalty shown towards Fabio's brand over the years. We have many customers that have dined with us since the day we opened our doors back in August 1999.
“Some of which dined with us every week, and some who flew across the world to visit us. Our direct success is down to all of you and it has been an absolute pleasure serving you.
“We have been there through all the birthdays, weddings, graduations, first dates, births, proposals, baby showers and much more without you we would have been nothing! We want to thank our employees past and present for being such an integral part of our business, your dedication and hard work to grow the business to what it is today has not gone unnoticed and we owe so much to you.
“To our suppliers who provided the best quality products to allow us to pass that quality onto our customers and contribute to our great reputation for serving good authentic Italian food, we thank you! Fabio’s was a small family run business but all the friendships forged over the years have become an extension of Fabio’s and made it feel like one big huge Italian family so it is with heavy hearts that we make this announcement.
“However, it was time and we have so many amazing memories to take with us and help us lighten the heavy hearts. So once again, thank you!
“Take care and please don’t be strangers, keep in touch and come have one last meal or drink with us before we go. All our love Pietro Snr, Fiona, Pietro Jnr, Ciro, Luigi, Bianca, Susanna, Livio, Nino, Thapa, Lorenzo and the rest of the Fabio’s team.”
One customer shared their heartbreak at the decision on the company's social media post by saying: "The absence of Fabios will be a big loss to the Corstorphine community but the name will always be remembered with fond memories. All the best to the Fabio family and team."
Whilst another said: "A big loss to the community. Thanks for all the family celebration meals we've enjoyed with you over the years."
Others were also gutted about the news, with one posting: "Absolutely gutted but realise the need to close.
"We as a family will miss you all enormously having spent so many celebrations etc over years enjoying good authentic Italian food in lovely surroundings and always served with happy politeness and good humour.
"It will be so sad to see the familiar Fabio sign disappear. Wishing you all everything good in the future and big thanks for such happy memories."
