Edinburgh emergency services race to Arthur's Seat to rescue stricken walker

Emergency crews raced to Arthur's Seat in Edinburgh on Tuesday after reports of an injured walker on the hill.

The Queensferry Coastguard Rescue Centre deployed a helicopter to rescue the person, who had broken their ankle. An ambulance also arrived on the scene, transporting the female by road to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Nearby walkers in the area spotted the chopper as it landed, before airlifting the injured party to safety.

A spokesperson for the HM Coastguard said: "We received a call at 10.30am this morning. It came from Arthur's Seat, with a report that someone had slipped and broken their ankle.

"A helicopter was dispatched to airlift the injured party."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service added: "We received a call today at 09.23am to attend an incident at Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.

"We dispatched one ambulance and our special operations team to the scene, with assistance also provided by the Coastguard. We transported one female patient by road to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.”
