A FLIGHT heading to Edinburgh has been met with emergency services on the tarmac after experiencing an "issue".
EasyJet flight EZY861M from London Gatwick to the capital suffered a technical issue on Thursday evening, and in line with procedures, emergency services scrambled to the scene as a precaution.
The aircraft landed in Edinburgh at 9.15pm after taking off at 7.55pm on February 20. The flight performed a go-around after a 'technical issue' was found just before landing.
The exact cause of the technical fault is unknown presently.
In aviation, a go-around is an aborted landing of an aircraft that is on final approach or has already touched down. A go-around can either be initiated by the pilot flying or requested by air traffic control
An EasyJet spokesperson said: "Flight EZY861M from London Gatwick to Edinburgh performed a routine go-around due to a technical issue before landing normally, in line with procedures and the aircraft was met by emergency services as a precaution only.
"The safety of our customers and crew is our highest priority and easyJet operates its fleet of aircraft in strict compliance with all manufacturers’ guidelines."
