Edinburgh drivers wake to find car windows smashed in serial vandalism rampage

A number of cars have had their windows smashed across two different Gorgie locations, Edinburgh Live understands.

One resident, who does not wish to be named or quoted, spotted four vehicles with their windows completely smashed on Russell Road in the West of Edinburgh on the evening of Wednesday April 13, 2022.

The cars were parked in a more secluded area of Russell Road where there is a lack of homes from which residents may have been able to hear something.

Several cars are also understood to have had their windows smashed at White Park on the same day as the Russell Road incidents.

Locals are understood to believe that both incidents may be connected.

In the image shared of the Russell Road cars, the passenger windows of two vehicles can be seen to have been completely cleared out.

This matches the scenes visible in the images for the White Park incidents where it is believed that as many as four cars were also damaged.

It is not yet known if the cars were targeted by thieves looking for items to steal from the cars or the cars themselves or whether it was an act of senseless vandalism carried out on the various cars by an unknown culprit.

It is understood the officers from Police Scotland have placed letters on the vehicles to inform the drivers that they are aware of the incidents that have taken place.

And a Police source confirmed to Edinburgh Live that they were aware of the issues and that it is believed that enquiries are ongoing.
