Edinburgh drivers caught out after hurtling down busy road at 80mph

A number of Edinburgh drivers were caught out this week after being seen hurtling down a busy road well over the speed limit.

Issuing a warning on social media, road police said their team had been out in the capital on Wednesday, January 11, as they monitored the A90.

Known to be a busy route for motorists heading from Cramond towards the Forth Road Bridge and Queensferry Crossing, the current speed limit sits at 50mph.

However, officers stated that in one day, they had spotted multiple drivers driving well over the limit, with some hitting speeds of 80mph and more.

Speaking in a tweet, road police said: "Edinburgh Road Police have been checking speeds on the A90; whilst it was raining, they found people to be in excess of the 50mph limit.
