Plans to demolish an Edinburgh Council cleansing depot and replace it with a block of accessible flats have been given the green light.
Councillors voted in favour of granting permission for application during a Development Management and Sub-Committee meeting on Wednesday after previous permission was given in August 2022, subject a legal agreement.
The cleansing depot, at 6 Cowan's Close, is set to be demolished and replaced the four-storey block, specifically designed for those who require special access such as wheelchair users.

The council themselves are behind the plans and hope to contribute towards their goal of delivering more affordable housing in the city. When the plans were drawn up in December 2022, a spokesperson for the council said for every council house that becomes available, there are 192 households 'bidding' for it.
In addition to this, there are greater shortages for those who require suitable housing. The block will consist of 19 spacious apartments for wheelchair users.
Employees within the cleansing department who use the site will be transferred to the Seafield depot.
A description of the proposal reads: "The proposal is for an 100 per cent affordable housing development of 19 units catering for those with additional needs and dedicated solely to the HSCP, comprising a single flatted block with net internal area of approximately 4000sqm, four storeys high served by a stair/lift core and deck access on the upper floors.
"A mix of one, two and three-bedroom, mainly dual access flats, all wheelchair accessible."
The council have also presented the plans and reasoning on their site, which members of the public can view here.
